Cyclist in Chicago Lakefront

Cycling on Chicago's Lakefront Trail

“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride.” – John F. Kennedy

At Envision Unlimited, we know cycling is good for the body and soul. With our unique Adaptive Cycling program and impressive fleet of bikes, we’ve been creating new experiences for people with disabilities and empowering them to be more mobile, independent and out in their communities.

And now, we’re inviting you to ride along!

Set off with Envision Unlimited members and volunteers for a ride on Chicago’s Lakefront Trail. Bring your own bike or volunteer to ride with a member on one of the bikes from our adaptive cycling fleet.

Water to keep you hydrated and tasty snacks created at the Idelle Kipperman Kitchen by Envision members in the culinary program will be provided. Bring your own lunch.

Meet at our tents to check in. The biking route is nearly 7 miles from our picnic spot south to Promontory Point/54th Street and back. A walking/running group has a path nearly 2 miles north to McCormick Place and back. Everyone is encouraged to ride, walk or run at their own pace.

After lunch, as nature stewards, Envision Unlimited members will clean up the beach and the park.

Funds raised during Summer of Cycling will benefit our adaptive cycling program and other innovative programs.

In case of inclement weather, the rain date is Thursday, June 27, same hours. We will announce shifting to the rain date by noon on Monday, June 24.

You can call event manager Jemeela Pettigrew at 312-506-4820 if you have questions.
