Envision Unlimited provides community living supports for over 350 adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and Mental Illness in the Chicago area. Although our Community Living Program's workforce is large, those most essential to our success are the DSPs. They work in a variety of settings including Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA), host family homes, and provide intermittent supports to members residing in their own homes in their communities.
When in a 24-hour CILA home they assist members in personal care, daily activities such as cooking, and provide medication administration. The intermittent and host family DSPs assist in coordinating medical appointments, transportation, banking and shopping. Across all programs DSPs support members in maintaining community connections and independence.
DSPs at Envision are a diverse group —male, female, young and more seasoned, some have high school degrees or college educations. But no matter their background, they are dedicated and passionate about their jobs.
